Pokémon GO released a new patch, yesterday, and it seems like most trainers are satisfied except for a few bugs that have been found. One of the major bugs that has been recently discovered causes trainers to lose Poké Balls when capturing Pokémon.
Apparently, when you throw a Poké Ball at a certain time, it becomes an automatic miss and goes way out into the distance where it looks extremely tiny. This quote came from this redditor that explains just what happens:
After last night’s update I noticed a new issue happening intermittently on both my Android phone and my wife’s iPhone. We were driving around past some Pokestops with her driving and me spinning and catching Pokemon on both our phones.
Sometimes, when trying to catch a Pokemon the ball would fly way off into the distance. Every time it happened I’d mention it to her but she never saw it happen. Today it happened at least a dozen times before I noticed a correlation. It seems to happen if your Pokemon animates as soon as the encounter starts and you try to toss your ball at it right as the animation is finishing.
The second toss in the video is my standard toss so I’m not sure how the first one would fly off like this.
Here is the video of what the bug actually looks like. You can see the Poké Ball somehow disappears for a bit then reappears super far off in the distance:
