Pokémon Go Now Available in Africa, Ditto May Be Region Exclusive

- in News

Pokémon Go is now available in Africa which means it is now available to play on every continent. Here is Niantic’s official update:

“Trainers in Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Chad, Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe, Egypt, Morocco, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger, Sierra Leone, Togo, fill your backpack and get ready for a hike!”

Africa is the newest location added to Pokémon Go and rumors are spreading that Ditto has appeared as a region exclusive. Up until this point, Ditto did not exist in the game. Here are the region exclusives we know so far thanks to Pokemon Go Hub:

  • Farfetch’d – Asia
  • Kanghaskan – Australia
  • Mr. Mime – Europe
  • Tauros – Northern America

Here are all the places where Pokemon Go is available:

Also according to Pokémon Go Hub, Ditto has not yet been confirmed as a region exclusive but here is what they have to say on the matter:

“The rumor has it that Ditto can be only found in Africa, but there is no indication yet if this is true. Ditto has been rumored and theorised about for months in the Pokemon GO community, and the “Ditto is region exclusive to Africa” is one of the oldest and hottest theories behind it.”

It has also just been revealed that eggs do not hatch Pokémon in regions where they are not available. So if you’re trying to hatch an egg in North America and hoping for a Mr. Mime, it’s not going to happen. With trading becoming a part of the game soon, these region exclusives will definitely be easier to get. Seriously, I’d gladly trade all of my Tauros for a Ditto.
