Trying to take over Pokémon GO gyms when you’re a lower level can be difficult, especially when you don’t have time or Poké Stops for loads of resources.  This method will help you evade this problem and take over gyms much easier.

The gist of the tip requires you to run once after defeating the first defender against 6000 prestiege gyms with 3 Pokémon.  XTCrispy of Reddit explains the breakdown of this method:

Gym Tip: When attacking 6000 prestige gyms with 3 Pokemon, run once after defeating the first defender.

This way, instead of having to fight the top defender three times, you fight the lowest defender twice and only have to beat the top defender twice as well.

Defenders First Attempt Second Attempt Third Attempt
800 CP Weepinbell Defeat (-500Prestige) Defeat Kicked Out
1800 Vaporeon Run Away Defeat Defeat
3000 CP Dragonite No Need to Fight Defeat (-3000Prestige) Defeat (-2500 Prestige)

As /u/opst02 pointed out, this method sacrifices one 50XP full clear bonus. Up to you if the bonus outweighs the time and items saved from fighting the top defender.

This tip will definitely help lower levels and make sure that you spend less resources.  It’s a much better way so you don’t have to spend all your potions and revives trying to fend some of the top gym defenders.
